1st Grade - Keithley, Maureen

Maureen Keithley

About Me:

Hello, I am Mrs. Keithley, your child's first grade teacher. I am extremely happy to be part of the Clifford team and take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have been teaching since 1982. I am a graduate of Christopher Newport University and the College of William and Mary. My Bachelor of Arts is in Elementary Education. I have a minor in Psychology and endorsement in Learning Disabilities. I hold teaching credentials in both the Commonwealth of Virginia and State of California. I received my Master's degree in Education Leadership and School Administration from Notre Dame de Namur University. I have specialized skills in reading, word study and creative writing. I have received several awards during my teaching career, among the more distinguished are from the National Meteorological Society, Ohio State University for Literacy Coordinator, and J. Russell Kent Award for FOSS Leadership. After sixteen years of continuous elementary teaching in Virginia, my family and I moved to California in 1998. One thing you can count on with me: I believe the classroom should provide fun, bright colorful, hands-on-learning experiences in an organized manner.
My husband and I are devoted to our three wonderful young adults. We love taking quick excursions around the Bay Area, traveling, biking, going to the beach, taking picnics, listening to live music, and playing boardgames. I am a "foodie,” (love watching The Food Network and reading cooking magazines) and am forever advancing my culinary skills while being a self-proclaimed restaurant critic.
My classroom door is always open; please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I truly believe communication is the key in all relationships. I am proud to be teaching your child. I will do all I can to create a child's success. My goal is opening their minds to possibilities and their hearts to love.
