Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based framework that is intended to promote positive outcomes for students because they are effectively encouraged to participate in positive behavior. It is an approach that focuses on the prevention of problematic behavior before it starts. Every student is capable of positive behavior and interaction, and a school wide PBIS system supports and encourages positive and collaborative behavior amongst all members of our school community.

PBIS at Clifford

One of the ways we implement PBIS at Clifford is through our Clifford Dolphin Creed. Our students recite the Dolphin Creed every week during our Monday morning meeting, but it is also a standard which we all live by during our time here at Clifford. Each classroom has a Clifford CREED poster that reminds students of the qualities we expemplify as Clifford Dolphins. Students can earn Dolphin Tickets that can be spent at our Dolphin Depot student store for fun prizes! This is one intervention that helps students understand their value and personal contribution to our whole Clifford community. Every small, wise decision makes a difference in our community.
